Term 3 Week 1

Silly Sentences

We started with a who from our holidays, we add something we would like to have done or did do e.g. the movies, fishing, had a party and then added a silly where e.g. the moon, the bush, in a cave...

Our silly sentences became silly stories, much more entertaining than writing about our holiday.

I went to a party on the moon. My friend, the alien invited me. We ate and we had a food fight. - Gabriel

My Mum went to a party in the haunted house. My Mum freaked out. -Tai

I ate pizza in a haunted house. The hot dog pizza came alive, it ran away saying "You can't eat me!" - Ashton

I went to the library on the moon. I read a book about superman, his cape fell out of the book. I tried it on, I started to float off the ground. - Zavia
My dog went to a party at the haunted house. Spot walked through the cold room and he came out a monster. - Janaya

My friend went to the playground on the moon. Obe and I climbed up the ladder for the slide. I hit the botton of the slide  and flew into the air. I reached out and touched a star. It was like chocolate, so I ate it - Dayjarhn

My cat is playing rugby on the moon. Bolt told the team to run. He ran to the ball and he kicked it, he ran after the ball and he scored a try. - Pania

Term 2

The Term has drawn to an end and we celebrated with a Disco - Here are a few photos from the Junior Disco.

Best Dressed Juniors for our Frozen Disco

This term we investigated how things fly and how we can make things fly better. We also had the privilege of doing Gymnastics.

Innovation Day

The children listened to the Manutukutuku  Legend before making a Maori Kite

We started weaving with the intention to weave Matariki Stars

We made Paper Straw Rockets - powered by one breath.

After cello-taping the balloon to the straw
we checked to see how far the  balloon would go.

We even went out side and tried the Balloon Rockets
again to see if they could go further.

Gymnastics at Bruce Pulman Park.

We looked at paper planes - here we all made a basic paper plane, before choosing 2 more paper planes we would like to make and then compared them and how they fly.

We started with Plastic Bag Kites - these gave the children instant pleasure and success. Important for Year 2s.

Running across the field with our Plastic Bag Kites.
